Board to return to in-person public comments starting April 24

April 22, 2025

Topic: Updates

Beginning with the April 24 meeting, the Board of Education will return to exclusively welcoming in-person public comments. This shift reflects a return to our traditional meeting structure.

We initially introduced online public comment options at the height of the pandemic, when in-person meetings were not feasible and ensuring community safety was our top priority. Now, as we reaffirm our traditional format and public health concerns related to the pandemic have significantly diminished, we believe that creating space for community voices to be heard in a shared public setting best supports meaningful engagement.

Community members are always welcome to submit public comments by emailing [email protected] and including “Public Comment” in the subject line. These comments will be shared with all members of the board and included in the official meeting minutes. To share your thoughts with the board during a meeting, please plan to attend in person and complete a comment request form. Each speaker will have up to three minutes to address the board.

While we are returning to in-person public comment during board meetings, we remain committed to transparency and accessibility. To that end, we will continue to livestream all regular board meetings via YouTube so the community can stay informed and engaged, wherever they are.

We recognize that this change may be disappointing for those who found virtual submissions more convenient, and we sincerely appreciate everyone who has taken the time to participate and share their perspectives.

Thank you for your continued engagement and advocacy.
