Todd Rohlwing joins the district as its new director of safety and security, effective July 1. For the past eight years, he has served as the director of school safety in Algonquin-based Community Unit School District 300. Prior to that position, he served as a captain and district commander for the Illinois State Police Department.
The Community Consolidated School District 21 Board of Education on May 15 voted in favor of appointing Todd Rohlwing as its new director of safety and security, effective July 1.
The district formerly shared a director of safety and security through an intergovernmental agreement with Elk Grove-based Community Consolidated School District 59. As the respective needs of both districts evolved, a mutual decision was made to conclude the agreement, with each district opting to employ its own full-time director. That agreement expires on June 30.
Rohlwing joins the district after serving as the director of school safety in Algonquin-based Community Unit School District 300 for the past eight years. Prior to that position, he served as a captain and district commander for the Illinois State Police Department.
District administrators credited Rohlwing for his “clear and deep understanding of not only school security, but also the importance of a holistically safe school environment for all.”
“I look forward to serving on the District 21 team and getting to meet students, staff, and all stakeholders to collaborate on safety initiatives,” Rohlwing added. “This opportunity allows me to help empower everyone in District 21 to make our schools safe so all students can reach their goals and dreams.”
